Contrast of tactical urbanism as a social contribution in Colombian cities

Abstract

The urban transformation is one of the keys to contributing to the development of scenarios that have not been intervened and that generate some kind of special condition for a community or sector of the city, and that require to be attended to. Within urban transformations, some mechanisms and instruments stand out to improve the living conditions of citizens, such as tactical urbanism, urban interventions and urban acupuncture projects. Hence, the objective was to compare the depth and impact of urban interventions with the implementation of social participation as a basis for the diagnosis and the joint search between the social and strategic actor, as a sustainable urban development mechanism. This reflection started from analyzing the interventions of tactical urbanism in two cities; a positive intervention carried out in the city of Medellín and a negative one in the city of Tunja, both in Colombia, achieving to highlight the social impact and the importance of carrying out a correct diagnosis for the solution of particular needs of the community and specific sector.
