Abstract

The article shows the preliminary results of the socio-educational project Environmental education and recreation, at the Faculty of Nursing of the Autonomous University of Querétaro, Mexico; whose objective was to raise awareness about the mistreatment of life. Its components aimed to support good practices in caring for the environment and the creation of manuals on environmental education, aimed at different educational levels. The pedagogical and philosophical underpinnings of it were based on the views of Freire and Bloch. The methodology used was sociocultural animation based on recreational activities, projecting initiatives in favor of the environment. The results reflected the students' recognition of the naturalness of being; the current uprooting of the environment; and the need to promote responsible consumption habits and routine nature-friendly practices, where appropriate, through medicinal gardens. It is concluded that the split of the subject with her natural environment does not allow her to become aware with her care; Therefore, environmental education must entail the return of the individual to nature to rebuild himself, and with it, be able to assume the social responsibility of protecting all forms of life on the planet.
