Heavy metals pollution represents a worldwide concern. This work had the objective to evaluate bioaccumulation of mercury and zinc in gill, hepatic and muscular tissue on fish species in the Carrizal river basin. Fourteen monitoring stations were established. APHA AWWA WEF 3112-B and APHA AWWA WEF 3111-B-C methods were used to determine mercury and zinc. In Oreochromis niloticus, the highest concentration of mercury (0.300?mg/kg in august and 0.276?mg/kg in october) and zinc (0.371?mg/kg in august and 0.347?mg/kg in october) was in branches. For Hoplias microlepis there were more mercury in muscle (1.615?mg/kg in august and 1.456 mg/kg in october) and zinc (1.243?mg/kg in august and 1.069 mg/kg in october). Aequidens rivulatus had the highest levels of mercury in muscle (2.034?mg/kg in august and 1.926?mg/kg in october). With reference to zinc, in August 0.373?mg/kg was found in the gills. In august 2017, there was a greater presence of mercury and zinc in the analyzed species. It can be deduced that the biomagnifications of heavy metals has a direct relationship with the use of agricultural inputs.
